Equipment

  • oven

  • baking sheet

Ingredients

Asparagus Ingredients

  • 1-1½ lb asparagus spears trimmed
  • 1 spray Oil spray
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • cup balsamic vinegar for the glaze
  • tablespoon brown sugar tightly packed for the glaze
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes for garnish

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Option to line baking sheet with foil, parchment paper, or a silicone mat.
  • Add balsamic vinegar and brown sugar to a small pot. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring often, for 10-15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, spread asparagus onto baking sheet. Spray or drizzle with oil and season with a scant ¼ teaspoon salt and pepper. Roast for 8-10 minutes or until bright green and fork tender.
  • Drizzle balsamic glaze over asparagus and sprinkle with red pepper flakes. Season to taste and serve immediately.

Notes

Optional toppings: Parmesan cheese, truffle salt, or lemon juice can enhance the dish. Follow air fryer instructions to roast asparagus if preferred. For refined sugar-free options, use coconut sugar, honey, or maple syrup instead of brown sugar.
