Cooking Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Place one sheet in the oven to keep cooked batches warm.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well blended.
  • Arrange the bread slices in a large baking dish and pour the egg mixture over the top, then flip to coat evenly. Transfer soaked bread to the baking sheet on the counter.
  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook a few slices of soaked bread at a time until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  • Transfer the cooked French toast to the baking sheet in the warm oven while finishing the remaining slices.

Notes

Cooked bread slices can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat in a toaster oven or pan with melted butter. For dairy-free, substitute with non-dairy milk. For egg substitute, use aquafaba or flax eggs.
